if it was one coyote no it would not have attacked you it will attack you if its in a group with others.and if it was a group you are lucky .your dog could have been attacked.they surround the dog and attack . just next time stay still and if it approaches make yourself look bigger and more fierce (make roars) than the animal.also NEVER step away.not even a little inch. cause it might recent that you are trying to escape and that could be dangerous.just also NEVER NEVER i hope im clear but NEVER corner it .it will attack in fear and might also kill you.follow my advise cause i have lots of those dangerous creatures at my place too

a single coyote never attacks a person unless its rabid, a pack is a little more likely, remember though if you see one again and its close make your self look bigger than you are and walk away slowly with out turning your back, also it helps to yell at it in an authoritative voice at it.

Coyote can attack a human if anything or anyone is bothering it. A coyote prey on dogs,insects,rabbits and goes on cities if it smells garbage. In my opinion keep eye contact and don't turn your back till your at a safe distance cause were there is one there may be two in the area.
