Will joining the Army after high school help me get the job i want

?? Its much easier in the Army than as an actual astronomer. I would also like the experience of working with drones and satellites. Any imput?-As someone with a M.......
I'm 15, and i REALLY want my career to be space-orientated. I want more than anything to be an astronaut, which is difficult now, but should be easier as technology improves, and the next space age begins (if it begins). But i would also be willing to become an astronomer or astrobiologist or something like that. But I'm not very good at math. Will enlisting in the Army as a space operations specialist before college improve my chances of getting a career like this??? Its much easier in the Army than as an actual astronomer. I would also like the experience of working with drones and satellites. Any imput?

As someone with a M.S. in astronomy, I agree with everything Eri says.

HOWEVER....

A stint in the Army can work to your advantage. Do a little checking online to see what sort of scholarship programs the military offers (Hint: there are LOTS!!!).

If you want to be an astronaut, you either need to join the Air Force or you need to earn at least a bachelors degree in a science, math, or engineering field, and get a few years of work experience in that field. Astronomer is not a job you settle for; it's 8-12 years of college for the required PhD and there are very few jobs in the field. You'd need to be willing to move pretty much anywhere to do it, and it doesn't make anyone rich. It's a job you go for if you love the field and can't see yourself doing anything else. Same for astrobiology; if anything, it's much worse than astronomy as far as jobs are concerned. These jobs require calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and 4 semesters of math for physicists between the undergraduate and graduate schools.

it depends on the field.Space oriented is a vague topic. Lets say you want to be a pilot of a shace vehicle, military (air force) training will sometimes make you stand out a little more
