I live in New Jersey and this little guy is VERY tiny. Maybe 1/4 of an inch long. I didn't see any obvious web so it may be some kind of hunting spider. Could it be a jumper? It sure doesn't look like any jumper that I've seen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's a pic of the little fella.

It isn't a jump spider. looks more like a ground spider in the gnaphosidae family.
Its eyes seem to match a haclmesh spider called Amaurobious ferox

it may also be in the Clubionidae family aka prowling sac spiders

Some spiders like this just simply take a close examination to accurately identify, but in any event this will be a harmless spider. Looks like your little friend caught a mite also.
