color variation; since the only White Tigers that have been observed in the wild have been Bengal Tigers. All
White Tigers in captivity are at least part Bengal.
Liger
The unusual and rare Liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a tigress. It is distinct from the similar hybrid
Tigon. The Liger is the largest of all cats and extant felines.
Imprinted genes may be a factor contributing to huge Liger size. These are genes that may or may not be
expressed on the parent they are inherited from, and that occasionally play a role in issues of hybrid growth.
Tigon
The peculiar and scarce Tigon or Tigron is a hybrid cross between a male tiger and a lioness. Tigons were more
common than ligers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, ligers are more common.
A Tigon can weigh up to 180 kg or 400 pounds. It usually exhibit characteristics of both parents: they can have both spots from the mother and stripes from the father. Any mane that a male Tigon may have will appear shorter and less noticeable than a lion's mane and is closer in type to the ruff of a male tiger.
Black Tiger
A Black Tiger is a rare color variant of the tiger and is not a distinct species. There are unconfirmed reports and
one painting of pure black non-striped tigers but no physical evidence. The Black Tiger was also long considered
mythical, but several pelts haveproven that pseudo-melanistic or hypermelanic tigers do exist. They are not wholly
black, but have dense, wide stripes that partially obscure the orange background color.
Black and White Tiger
One of the most intriguing, interesting and captivating tigers that I encountered on the internet is the Black and
White Tiger. I am considering it as one of the handsomest tiger if not the handsomest in existence.
