A strange question hit me: If there was no Wind, would it have taken longer to discover air

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-04-01] [Hit: ]
yes, because people probably would have thought we were just surrounded by nothingness. But what about breathing? I dont know how they would have explained that.-If air didnt move, there wouldnt be wind.......
Would people have not known air exists for a long time?

Dude! I laughed when I read this, you make a good point. I think it would have taken longer to discover air, yes, because people probably would have thought we were just surrounded by nothingness. But what about breathing? I don't know how they would have explained that.

If air didn't move, there wouldn't be wind. If air didn't move, but there was air, then I'd imagine time would not exist (be passing). I suppose, to discover air, a mind needs to sense the motion of the air over time. How does a bumblebee fly? Does a bumblebee know it flies?

Well, people breathe, eventually it's the same concept. Blowing, fanning, all generate "wind". It is an unrealistic question, therefore there would be no answer.

-
air was always here, never really was "discovered"

-
Probably no delay because some very bright type would have wondered why blowing caused the candles to go out on a birthday cake.

-
People have been breathing for a long time now. Surely it's one of the first things you discover when the doctor spanks your butt.
