it sounds like 1 extremely long thunder. its been at it for like 15-20 minutes and counting..... the best description i can give of it, it sounds like heavy winds clashing against each other. the sky is pretty clear too, no lightning, no rain, just some very few small gray clouds. is this normal thunder?

Thunder is caused by the intense heating and subsequent rapid expansion of the air.
I've never heard of thunder lasting 15 minutes. Sometimes a distant tornado can sound like a low continuous rumble of thunder, but you said the sky was pretty clear with no rain or lightning.
Sometimes wind can sound like thunder, was it windy that day? If the wind is kicking up dust or something, it can make a long thunder sound.
If it was really warm that day, it could be that rising pockets of air (called parcels) were rising and expanding, but the expansion isn't great enough or quick enough to cause thunder, but this is one of the causes of what is called "heat lightning" which occurs in the summer.
