Why is red at the top of the rainbow

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-09] [Hit: ]
blue (short) is near one edge of the rainbow, red (long) at the other.......
Why are rainbow colors arranged that way?

Thanks.

A rainbows colors are arranged according to wavelength. Red being the longest is on top and violet being the shortest being on the bottom.

A rainbow is formed when light is bent by passing through tiny droplets of water - lots of them. The amount the light is bent depends on the wavelength of the light. The shorter the wavelength - the more it is bent. So, blue (short) is near one edge of the rainbow, red (long) at the other.
