It already has passed the 1974 outbreak in number of tornadoes caused and the number of deaths.
Today's society has become so complacent about severe weather. Media such as the film Twister and the tv show Storm Chasers has gotten lots of people use to severe weather. A lot feel the need to emulate what they see on tv. This ignorance can get inexperienced people killed. Also, there are some places in the US where severe weather warnings can not get to. No outdoor sirens and no tv. This is why it is important for people living in severe weather prone areas to get a NOAA weather/all hazards radio.
