It's near the end of April and it's cold as hell in New York...

It's better then tornado's and earthquakes but man this has been a bad winter!

We were in a strong La Nina. That generally favors colder, stormier weather for the northeast, with more/ larger severe out for the eastern US in general.

canada is having an election and all the blabber from the politicians has pushed the jet stream further south than normal. give it a couple weeks and things will be back to normal.

Truth is, this happens once in a while. The jet stream has been running further south than normal since last fall, presumably because of the la nina (or so that is the explanation I have seen). this has pushed storm tracks further south than typical, and let the cold air from the northern plains dip further south than typical. Winter behavior tends to vary a lot about a general condition. I remember winters from the late 70s that were like this. No snow to speak of in the Adirondacks for the 80 olympics at lake placid, if you remember. Another year (maybe around 87 or 88) I remember a huge blizzard in upper New England on the last weekend of April (I had to go through that snow on I-89 to get to Boston for a flight to the Kentucky derby, which is always the first weekend of May)

I will be happy myself when spring arrives, because I am in that cold zone myself. it will eventually arrive.

Its because we are moving farther from the sun and I'd rather have snow than a tornado. >.<

The global warming ruined the whole season.

And Texas is roasting with forest fires the size of Rhode Island.

Where would you rather be?
