A tornado is suppose to be coming tonight

The news's said we are in a high risk area. I'm terrified. We don't have a basement and we have a closet that's in between two staircases but has a open area to big windows but we can shut the door but I don't think that will do any good. The closet is VERY small. It barely fits my mom, me and my dog. Any other ways we can try to get more protection. I'm so worried. :/

Find a big heavy quilted blanket, and cover yourself with it.

But remember -- NO ONE can tell a tornado IS coming until about 10 minutes before it hits. Everything you hear says it is POSSIBLE -- but not 100% certain.

Stay OFF the internet, adn keep your TV on, your local news stations will broadcasts any warning, and will tell you when to hide.

If the weather should get severe enough that you need to take shelter, remain calm. If possible get to the lowest level of the building/house and/or an interior room or area. This would be an area with no windows nor walls that share with the outside. Mobile homes/Double wides/Trailers are not safe places to be during a tornado or straight line winds. If you can, get to a sturdier building. If you can not get to a sturdier shelter, then find a low ditch or culvert and lay flat as can be face down. Remember, REMAIN CALM!

I live in CT so I wouldn't know what your going through, but you can always drive to the nearest stable building? Like a school or maybe even a Walmart or something? I have no idea how people operate in these type of situations, but I'd imagine a school would let you in?

Lying in a bathtub with a mattress over you is a common way to get some protection. The tub is pretty strong, and it's somewhat anchored to the ground by its plumbing.

Idk..The closet sounds like the best idea. Do you have a interior hallway or bathroom with no windows?
