10. or U2 = final energy= 10.2 / 4 = 2.55 J.10.2/2=5.......
A fully charged capacitor stores 10.2 J of energy.
How much energy remains when its charge
has decreased to half its original value?
Answer in units of J

-
energy of a capacitor U = Q^2 / 2 C, where Q is the charge and C is the capacitance

so that for two cases , U1 / U2 = (Q1/Q2)^2 and hence, 10.2 / U2 = ([(Q/Q/2)]^2 = 4

or U2 = final energy = 10.2 / 4 = 2.55 J.

The answer is
10.2/2=5.1 J
Since its half the original value you simply divide by 2
