It might help you to understand this to start with some basic facts.
The world you live in exists in 4 dimensions. These are 3 dimensions in space, and one in time. Time is regarded in physics as a dimension. Touch is not a dimension, it is a sense.
We can only experience 4 physical dimensions ( the 3 directional dimensions - 1.up/down. 2.left/right 3. forward/backward plus the 4th dimension, Time)
However, in some branches of physics where they are trying to understand how the universe works it can be helpful to view the universe as though it had more than 4 dimensions. Sometimes up to 14 or more dimensions. These extra dimensions cannot be seen or felt or experienced in any way, but adding them in to various theories can often help to make the mathematics of these theories work.
There is much argument as to whether or not these extra dimensions are real in any way or if they are simply a helpful tool in mathematics when dealing with certain areas of physics. As they cannot be experienced in any way, whether they are real or not is of no real importance. Perhaps one day, science will become advanced enough to probe the reality of these extra dimensions.
