Amaretta say: Your father is an alcoholic who doesn't want to quit drinking, so he isn't going to get better. He might have a stomach virus now, but the drinking will eventually take a toll on his liver or lead to cancer.

say: He needs esomeprazole and a gastroscopy.

busterwasmycat say: He probably has the flu. Possibly food poisoning. Nothing in that mixture would be a good cause for vomiting.
The alcoholic often has a large problem with an alcohol addiction that is very difficult to control. Not excusing, just saying that it is way easier said than done to quit. That is, of course, the problem. Cigarettes and alcohol are things that many people have to quit totally or they fall right back into the old familiar pattern of use.
That is a hard thing to do: not have one drink or one smoke, ever again. A week or two, even a couple months, sure. But NEVER? never is a very long time. You get weak for a moment and have one, then later, well, I already had one, so another, and bang, you are right back where you were before you even realize it.
