Deepak Suwalka say: simply multiply all the term by 2
2×12 = 2× 1/2 x
24 = x
Hence, x = 24
-
Paul say: If you know about the order of operations and you really mean what you say then.
12 = x/2
x = 24.
If you didn't realise that you typed 12 = (1/2) * x but meant to type 12 = 1/(2x) then:
12* 2x = 1
24x = 1
x = 1/24
I'm not saying you need this video but if you are unsure about where to put brackets then you use brackets if you don't intend for the proper order of operations to be followed.

Ricki say: 12 = 1/2 * x
x = 24
-
Natasha say: This would make more sense:
12 = (1/2) x
24 = x
The way you've phrased it, you could have meant 12 = 1/(2x). In which case the solution would be:
12 = 1/(2x)
24 x = 1
x = 1/24
Good luck xx

bruce 888 say: If you add same arithmetical sign of value on both side of a equation, the value of that equation will remain equal.
So for 12 = 1/2 X
=> 12 ÷ 1/2 = 1/2 X ÷ 1/2
=> 12 x 2/1 = 1/2 X x 2/1
=> 24 = X
thus for this question: X = 24 12 = 1/2 (24)
-
Izna say: 12 = (1/2)x
x = 12 X 2
x = 24
-
Kelle say: 12 = 1/2x
12 divided by 1/2 = x
12/1 * 2/1 = x
24=x

-
M. say: Multiply each side by 2 and you get:
24 = x
That means that x = 24.
-
Jeffrey say: Multiply each side by 2, we can do this because it is an equation.
Now we get:
24 = x, so x is 24.
-
say: 12(2)=x
x=24
