Why is it hard for scientists and astronaut to find life in the universe?

Is it because the technology isn't strong enough?

digquickly say: Well, ..., That's a very good question and you're not the only one asking it. Many prominent scientists are seriously asking the question, "If life should be teaming in the universe then where are all the aliens? For now, there is no observable evidence that any other life exists in the entire observable Universe.

Brigalow Bloke say: Because there are a billion haystacks and only one has a needle.

If a scientist is lucky, her career might last 40 years. Why waste it on a search for something that every chemist, molecular biologist, cosmologist, geologist and evolutionary biologist tells her is likely to be stunningly rare?

tham153 say: Intelligent, so it wants nothing to do with Earth life

Clive say: It's all about distance, not technology.

With all the billions of stars and therefore even more billions of planets that there are, it seems unlikely that we are the only intelligent life. But others will be so far off that it's just very hard to even hear from them. I mean, consider ourselves. The only other intelligent life that could possibly know about us would have to be less than about 100 light years away - within range of how far our radio broadcasting has reached by now. That's not far at all on the cosmic scale.
