The equation askes how many chickens and goats are there ?x = 16 -If there are 24 heads there must be 24 animals in total...if we ignore 2-headed chickens and goats!!......
so theres chickens and goats in a farm , the only given thing is there are 24 HEADS AND 64 LEGS. . The equation askes how many chickens and goats are there ?
HELLPPP C:
working out as well and please be clear with the thing :)

-
let x = number of chickens
let y = number of heads

counting the number of heads will give us the following equation

x + y = 24

x = 24 - y <---equation 1

counting the legs will give us the following equation

2x + 4y = 64 <---- equation 2

plug in the value of x in terms of y from equation 1 to equation 2 and then simplify

2x + 4y = 64

2(24 - y) + 4y = 64

48 - 2y + 4y = 64

2y = 64 - 48

2y = 16

y = 8 <--- number of goats

solve for x using equation 1

x = 24 - y

x = 24 - 8

x = 16 <---- number of chickens

If there are 24 heads there must be 24 animals in total...if we ignore 2-headed chickens and goats!!

so, c + g = 24....(1)

Each chicken has 2 legs and each goat 4 legs so,

2c + 4g = 64

=> c + 2g = 32...(2)

so, (2) - (1) => g = 8 => c = 16

i.e. 16 chickens and 8 goats

let
x = number of chickens
y = number of goats

x + y = 24
y = 24 - x

2x + 4y = 64
2x + 4(24 - x) = 64
2x + 96 - 4x = 64
-2x = -32
x = 16
y = 8

-
C+G = 24
2C + 4G = 64
C + 2G = 32
G = (32-C)/2
C + 16 - C/2 = 24
½ C = 8
C = 16

Check: 24-16C = 8G
16×2+8×4=64
