I thought that anything divided by itself was equal to one, but I also thought that you can't divide by zero.
Thanks!

This is faulty logic, as you can not divide by zero. Whenever you try to divide by zero, you get contradictions.
There is an easy way to prove that you can not divide by zero:
1) Multiplication and division are inverse operations. For example: 12/3 = 4 and 4 X 3 = 12.
2) Assume that you can divide by zero and arrive at a contradiction. So, let's assume that 0/0 = 1.
But because multiplication is the inverse operation of division this would mean:
0 X 0 = 1, which is patently incorrect.
3) Therefore the assumption you made (that you can divide by zero) leads to a contradiction and your assumption is false.
SUN's answer is totally wrong.
Does that help?

Also, 0 divided by anything is 0, and since 0x = 0 for all numbers x, 0/0 could be any number.
It's regarded as a meaningless expression, on its own.
