It means therefore. For example, if i was explaing someone some maths, i would say 1+2=3, ∴ 3-2=1. It can be used in any branch, not just maths, and itls a compact way to write therefore, like pi (3.14159265358979323846264338327950) which is an awful lot to write can be written as the pi symbol
