How do you factor these algebraic expressions

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-06-11] [Hit: ]
for b, a common factor would be 3 and also x because both parts have an x. (3x) so the answer for this one would be: 3x(3x-5d).I hope this helped!......
Factorise the following:

a) 6x - 18 _______________

b) 9x2 – 15xd _______________

Can you please explain how to factor them? thanks :)

hey! so for "a" u pull out a common factor. You can pull out a 6 bc it goes into 6 as well as 18. The answer would simply be 6(x-3). You can check that because when you multiply the 6 by both the x and the 3, you get the example you started with.

for "b", a common factor would be 3 and also x because both parts have an x. (3x) so the answer for this one would be: 3x(3x-5d).

I hope this helped! If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me (:
