The surface area is the area of a 3d shape's surface. For example, the surface area of a cube, with a length of 3, would be( 3*3)*6. this is because 3*3 would give you the area of one side, and because all 6 sides are the same, you times it by 6.
It's equation would be how you did it. Because an equation is basically a mathematical word for sum, using the example above, the equation for that would simply be (3*3)*6.
