Because of employee complaints, the Cracker Jack Company is resigning their shipping boxes. The original box has dimensions of 10 x 7 x 18 inches. The president of the company wants a redesigned box that is 2/3 of the volume of the original box.
QUESTIONS:
1) List two different possibilities for the dimensions of the redesigned box.
2) The original box sells wholesale for $52.60. What is a fair price for the company to charge for the redesigned box (based on the cost of the original box)?
3) Explain how you arrived at your answer
Please help with the questions; elaborate your answers please.

1) 10 x 7 x 12 Easy answer, just take 2/3 of one of the dimensions.
9 x 14 x 10 Take total volume (1260) and find a convenient number which divides into it, 9, and another convenient number for dividing into the quotient, 14, leaving 10.
2) Fair would be 2/3 of $52.60 or $35.07, but the company might also fairly wish to recover the cost of retooling for the new package, so something would have to be added on for this, we'll estimate $2.00, and might in the real world, fair or not, expect to make a bit of extra profit from the venture, or why do it at all, so we'll add another couple of bucks, and suggest a fair price might be $39.07.
Note that I've assumed that the number of Cracker Jack toys decreases in proportion to the volume, so haven't made any allowance for their reduced number.
