Is the following equation true or false?

81 x 9 = 801

Without adding any numbers or symbols (i.e. you can only rearrange the numerals and multiplication sign keeping them on the same side of the equal sign), make the equation true?

unless you can use the number we were given twice, then it still looks like it's false, but if we can use the numbers we already have then: 89 times 9 is 801

OR

paper is upside down and it really says 108 = 6 x 18

Flip "81 x 9" upside down, and it becomes "6 x 18".
Flip "801" upside down, and it becomes "108".

6 x 18 = 108 is true.

rotate the problem vertically: 108 = 9 x 18

invert each number: 108 = 6 x 18

Then it would be true.

Turn you monitor upside down and read again the equation.
108 = 6 x 18

turn the equation upside down :P
108 = 6 x 18
