where is the $1?-You are putting the dollar in the wrong place. He owes 49 dollars to each parent because he paid back 1 to each of them.49 + 49 is 98.He only barrowed 98 he has one left over from the 97 pair of pants.98- 97 =1-The equation $49+$49 = $98 + the remainding $1 = $99 is not a correct representation.......
jack wants a jeans which cost $97
but jack didnt have money so he borrowed $50 and another $50 from his parents which equals $100 so there is $3 dollars left
then he paid $2 from his parents so he owes $49 from his dad and $49 from his mother which equals $2 so theres $1 left.
so.
$49+$49= $98 + $1 remainder = $99 where is the oyher dollar?

$97 jeans
he borrowed $50 from dad and $50 from mom= $100
so there is $3 left then he pays $1 from mom then $1 from dad so theres $1 left
so he owes mom $49 and dad $49
$49+$49 = $98 + the remainding $1 = $99
where is the $1?

You are putting the dollar in the wrong place.
He owes 49 dollars to each parent because he paid back 1 to each of them.
In reallity he barrowed 49 from each
49 + 49 is 98.
He only barrowed 98 he has one left over from the 97 pair of pants.
98- 97 =1

The equation "$49+$49 = $98 + the remainding $1 = $99" is not a correct representation.
It should read "$49+$49 = $98 (borrowed [=$100 - $2 repaid]) - the $97 (paid for jeans) = $1
