THANKS!!-Well, I can help you with 2 and 4. Number 2 can be solved using the quadratic formula, x=-b+ or - the square root of b^2 -4ac all divided by 2a.......
1. Simplify the expression x^3 + 2x^2 - x - 2 OVER x^2 + 5x + 6

2. Solve equation x^2 - 4x - 5 where as x1
3. The difference of two positive numbers is 3 and the sum of their squares is 65. Find the numbers

4. Solve the equation x^2 - 16 = 0 where as x1
THANKS!!

Well, I can help you with 2 and 4. Number 2 can be solved using the quadratic formula, x=-b+ or - the square root of b^2 -4ac all divided by 2a. Your b is -4, your a is x^2, and your c is negative 5. Ok, you plug all that in your answers are 5 and -1. Then you have to check to see if x is less than x^2. -4 times -5 is twenty , (-5) squared is 25, that checks. 4 times - 1 is -4, and -1 squared is 1, so that checks. x^2-16 can be solved by simple factoring.(x-4)(x+4), therefore x=+ or - 4. Hope this helps!
p.s. in the formula, you would write x^2 as 1.
