The candles were lit at the same time and were the same height when lit. After how many hours will one candle be half the height of the other? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.t = 9/2 = 4.5 hrs.-t = 4.......
Consider two candles. One candle takes 6 hours to burn entirely, and the other burns entirely in 9 hours. The candles were lit at the same time and were the same height when lit. After how many hours will one candle be half the height of the other? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.

Just want to make sure i did my hw correct:)

-
(1 - 1/6 * t) = (1 - 1/9 * t) * 1/2

1 - 1/6 * t = 1/2 - 1/18 * t

1/2 = (1/6 - 1/18) * t

1/2 = 1/9 * t

t = 9/2 = 4.5 hrs.

-
t = 4.5 hours
