I have to find the slope and y-intercept, AND SHOW MY WORK, for the equation -15 - x = -5y. Can you help? It's not like I'm trying to cheat, I really don't get it! Thanks!

-15-x=-5y
-5y=-15-x
divide by -5
y=3+x
-5y=-15-x
divide by -5
y=3+x

First put the equation in point slope form
Y=mx+b
The number m (the number in front of the x) is the slope
The number b (the number all by itself) is the y intercept.
Just rewrite the function in this for. Seeing as y has a -5 in front of it, you divide the entire thing by -5
So
-5y=-15-5x now divide by -5 to isolate the y
Y=3+x rewrite a y=mx+b
Y=x+3
The m=slope=1
And b=y intercept=3
Go get a graphing calculator to really picture it. The slope is how steep the graph will rise. A slope of one means if you move over one you go up one. Like a stair kinda. The y intercept is how high up the line crosses the y axis.
