How to solve this system

12x+3y=16
-36x+12=9y

Please help me out.

multiply 1st equation by 3 and get 36x + 9y = 48 now add the two equations together

36x + 9y = 48
-36x +12 = 9y

9y+12 = 48 + 9y
0 = 36 no solution

turn either equations into y= (such as y=16/3-4X) then take that y= value and plug it into the other equation for the y variable (using my example it would be -36X+12=9x16/3-4X) By doing this, you are left with only one variable and you can easily find it. Once you find it, plug that number into any equation replacing the variable it stood for. Then solve once more and you will gain the value of the second variable.
