Hey,
So I recently had a math test (30 / 36, but the teacher made a mistake, so it should theoretically be 31 / 36)
I'm still looking to pull my mark a little higher, and found one area that may be a problem.
The question is:
1. For the function y = f(x), state the transformations used to sketch, using the correct order in which you would apply them.
b) y = f(4x - 12)
I answered:
The function is horizontally compressed by a factor of 4, and is translated 12 units to the right.
Is it supposed to be 1/4 or 4?
C) y = -g(-0.5x) - 6
I put: The function is reflected over the y and x axis, it is also horizontally stretched by a factor of 1/2 and translated 6 units down.
(I also put in writing to the right: x points are 2 times what f(x) is)
Is it supposed to be a factor of 1/2 or 2?

Everything in ( ) is backwards so it is a factor of 1/4 and 2. The translations are correct.
