Good news.
There is virtually no mechanism that could cause a Tsunami in the gulf of Mexico.
A tsunami that starts out in the Atlantic will lose energy on entering the gulf and passing the many islands. So a tsunami over 10 feet is really not ever anticipated.
An asteroid / comet impact in Mexico is thought to have caused a tsunami about 65 million years ago that flooded much of what is now USA up to the border of Canada. That wave was estimated to have been initially a mile high. That isn't likely to occur again. It would need the coincidence of another impact AND for the impact to be in the same place. The earth is a big place. And we will likely have a year's warning (if not decades) of such an event.

That was covered in my first statement.
That area is not in an earthquake zone (for a major earthquake)

Yeah it depends on how high the wave or waves are. I would guess that it could if it were 200 feet or so high. A 50 foot wave or so probably not. But like lolpandabears said.., if it were high enough it could reach Canada.

It depends on the size. If it were big enough, it could potentially reach Canada, so watch out!
