Ignore Josh's answer - he's confusing area with diameter

Area = pi x (radius)squared

so for radius 0.5 area = 3.142 x 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.7854

radius is halfway which means the area is the whole way, so 0.5 multiplied by 2
