What's the difference between MATHLAB and MATHCAD

Thanks.-Im not sure what MATHLAB is but if you mean MATLAB then the two programs in your question aredifferent in both their interface and their flexibility but can be used as replacements for each other in some circumstances.MATHCAD allows you to write out your mathematics as if you were writing them in an equation editor in say MS Word but MATHCAD actually understands what you are typing and you can therefore use it to perform the algebra for you. It also may be used for plotting graphs and various other manipulations of your equations.MATLAB is short for Matrix Laboratory and is a programming language first and foremost. The software package is more like a user interface in which you can write scripts to manipulate data.......
Are their functions similar? Is there any need to learn them both? I would appreciate detailed explanations of these two. Thanks.

MATLAB is short for Matrix Laboratory and is a programming language first and foremost. The software package is more like a user interface in which you can write scripts to manipulate data. MATLAB has a lot of add-ins that let you build models and run simulations and it best used for handling a large amount of data in matrix form - hence is ideal for solving lots of engineering problems.

"MATLAB® is a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computationally intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages such as C, C++, and Fortran." From http://www.mathworks.co.uk/products/matl…

"Mathcad enables engineers to easily perform, document and share calculation and design results. Mathcad’s interface accepts and displays units aware math notation using keystrokes or menu palette clicks with no programming required. What sets Mathcad apart is that it’s easy-to-use. In fact, it’s the first solution to enable users to simultaneously solve and document engineering calculations in a single reusable worksheet, which can be saved or easily converted to several formats. Mathcad’s intuitive interface combines live, standard math notation, text and graphs, in a presentable format which enables knowledge capture, reuse and design verification for improved product quality." The only reference I found to MATHLAB is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MATHLAB

mathlab is a prgram that let u use equations and stuff to calculate things its lyk a program , using ur own creation of formule to work out wat u need to ?
mathcad ?? if u mean AUTOCAD is a program that lets u use both 2D and 3D to draw and plan anything such as a house plan!!!
