What are the sparkly bits in rocks called

I do not mean a rock that is sparkly (hematite) or a rock with inclusions or intrusions. There is a scientific word for the sparkly bits in rocks, or a rock that has sparkles or small crystals. I learned it a few years ago in science but I cant remember it for the life of me. Help!

They could be phenocrysts.

pitholiths or phenocrysts or whatever the mineral is... probably mica or hematite or another metallic mineral

-
in most cases it's a mineral called mica
