When a soda bottle is sealed there is an equilibrium of CO2 molecules dissolving in and out of the solution. When the bottle is opened some of this CO2 escapes and makes the drink less fizzy.
If you think about the difference between small bottles and large bottles, the hole when you take off the cap are very similar sizes. However, there is a lot more soda in the larger bottle which means there is more CO2.
If you leave the cap off a small bottle and large bottle they will lose CO2 at roughly the same rate, but because there is a lot more in the larger bottle it will keep the fizziness for longer.
Hope this helps! :)
