Okay, before you freak out and go all, "No don't kill yourself," this is completely out of curiosity. How would you "take" cyanide to kill yourself? Do you chew the capsule or something else?

Any method of entry into your body will do the trick. Swallow cyanide, inhale HCN, sprinkle cyanide on an open cut or wound- get the picture? The Nazis did it right. They placed the condemned in a chair. Below the chair was an open container of sodium cyanide. A tube from another room was led into the chamber and dripped sulfuric acid into the pot. The reaction made sodium sulfate in the pot and HCN (hydrogen cyanide) went into the air. The person was dead in about a minute.

Cyanide is the anion CN-. It doesn't come by itself. It always has a counter ion. A cation. Sometimes it's sodium. Sometimes it's potassium. Sometimes something else. Potassium cyanide for example. The exception is hydrogen cyanide which is a gas and is molecular.
