How does the amount of shade affect competition among plants? I have been looking for an article or source that can help me figure out how the amount of shade would either increase, decrease, or have no effect on the competition between organisms? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A plant in shade is getting less resources than a plant in the sun. With less resources another plant becomes the better competitor. It can grow more roots and suck up more nutrients from the soil or grow taller and shade the other plant even more. Shade can also trigger stress hormones in plants and cause them to grow tall quickly in hopes of finding more light.
