Why is "one mole of chlorine" confusing

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-10-29] [Hit: ]
there would be no problems.-Math is correct and gets a point.Other polyatomic elements are: H2, F2, Br2, I2,......
how can it be fixed? what other elements have the same confusion?

-
Chlorine gas is diatomic, meaning that in its 'natural' state it is bonded to another Cl. So 1 mol could refer to 1 mol of Cl2 or 1 mol of Cl. If it was specified that one was to measure Chlorine gas, there would be no problems.
