Hi! Can you please help me?! So like you have to have the same number of atoms in each element? Or what? And to do this you use coefficients? Right? Does that make sense? Please help!

I have some tutorials, videos and solved problems here:
http://www.chemteam.info/Equations/Equat…
Also, there are other videos. Search for Kahn Academy as well as a more general search like "balancing chemical equations video" to see if you can't find other examples.
Post a couple tough ones here on YA and ask for a step-by-step equation. Use this link:
http://www.webqc.org/balance.php
to check answers or get an answer, then figure out how it was done.
Best wishes.

Well to balance equations you have to have the same amount of reactants and products because you cannot create or destroy matter. One example of balancing an equation is the combustion of propane.
C3H8 + 5O2 ---> 4H2O + 3CO2
As you can see there are 3 Carbons on each side and 10 oxygens, and 8 hydrogens. Make more sense now?
