20 kJ) / (1080.0 kJ/mol) x (89.83 g/mol) = 24.47 g-If you kept the minus sign you would wind up with negative grams, which makes no sense. In this problem you are only interested in the quantity of heat -- you dont care if it was absorbed or released.......
If the heat of combustion for a specific compound is -1080.0 kJ/mol and its molar mass is 89.83 g/mol, how many grams of this compound must you burn to release 294.20 kJ of heat?

I have tried doing this but I'm not sure I'm doing it right at all. The answer must be in grams and please explain how you got your answer! Please answer ASAP!
