my chem instructor taught us to look at the period table and just remember that as you move to the right, across the peiods, atomic radius decreases, and as you go down the groups, it increases, therefore He (at the far right of the period table) will be much smaller than say Rb, which is towards the lower left corner, in other words, draw a line going diagonally through the periodic table going from the bottom left to the top right, and size gets smaller, hope this helps
