Why are amoeba' s slow

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-11-18] [Hit: ]
This is not at all a common knowledge question.-If youre actually being serious,BTW, amoebae is the proper plural form of amoeba.......
Instead of having cilia (small arms used to propel the organism, like tiny rows in a boat) like Paramecium have, amoebae have to travel by extending pseudopodia (small "arm" extensions) and anchoring them to the ground, then pulling the rest of the organism toward the anchored point. This is an extremely slow way of locomotion, and is also their way of ingesting other organisms, like Paramecium.

This is not at all a common knowledge question.

If you're actually being serious, it's because either:

a) amoebae are incredibly tiny
b) amoebae have no limbs to propel themselves forward

BTW, amoebae is the proper plural form of amoeba.
