Pretend name for bacteria

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-10-27] [Hit: ]
There are many reasons for choosing names - just as many (and as arbitrary) as our usual names are chosen. They are typically latinized, though there are a few exceptions.Humans are sapiens which is smart.Homo erectus is named as such, because they were one of the early hominids to stand upright.......
It's genus would be Diplococci
What would the species name be ?
Like how would you just make something up like that ?
Also if it helps, my bacteria is Archaebacteria that lives Yellowstone park in their hotsprings.
Also, since this is just made up bacteria would it be okay to have my bacteria be pairs of circles that are in the shape of a heart or something ?

Species names (and new higher order names, for that matter) are often descriptive, or named in honour of somebody. There are many reasons for choosing names - just as many (and as arbitrary) as our usual names are chosen. They are typically latinized, though there are a few exceptions.

Humans are sapiens which is "smart."
Homo erectus is named as such, because they were one of the early hominids to stand upright.
E. coli is coli because the bacteria it was classed in used to be called coliforms.
Escherichia is named after a person who discovered E. coli (Theodor Escherich).
There are numerous X darwinii organisms.

Name it after yourself, your favorite biologist, somebody you respect, or if you want it heart shaped, maybe something like cardiacus or cordatus.
