Hi so tomorrow is my science final, and I comprehend everything except for mRNA, rRNA and tRNA, along with transcription and translation. And what is an anticodon? I've looked in my book and on the web and yet I still fail to understand what goes on! If you could simply explain it, that would be awesome. Thank you.

Imagine if someone took a message (mRNA) for you. But it was in Spain that they got it from. so it was in Spanish. So when it got there you had to get a translator (ribosome). With the translated info, you and tRNA (who brought some amino acids[thebuilding blocks of proteins]) make protein, pack it up in a vesicle and put it in the taxi for the other side of town.
Transcription produces mRNA which is decoded by the ribosome to produce a specific amino acid chain, or polypeptide, that will later fold into an active protein. The decoding is translation. Translation occurs across the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum in a process called vectorial synthesis. The ribosome facilitates decoding by inducing the binding of tRNAs with complementary anticodon sequences to that of the mRNA. The tRNAs carry specific amino acids that are chained together into a polypeptide as the mRNA passes through and is "read" by the ribosome in a fashion reminiscent to that of a stock ticker and ticker tape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SghWl3MVb…

Here is a simple animation about the whole process of protein synthesis. It helps me, really. XD
