Choose a bloody best answer. It's not hard. say: Firstly: I could be wrong, but I've never heard or read of any of the Apollo astronauts specifically saying they couldn't see stars.
I haven't been to the "edge of space" myself, but "The Right Stuff" was a movie and whether or not stars are actually visible from the cockpit of that aircraft, it makes sense that the producers would include stars to heighten the fact that Yeager was at a very high altitude.
If a high-alt pilot or astronaut had the sun, Earth, moon or any other large bright object even near his field of vision, both the reflex of the eye's pupil to constrict and the difference n contrast would make stars instantly far less visible.
Some Apollo astronauts did report that they could see some brighter stars. Again, they were on the sunlit side of the moon, with the sun in the sky, wearing faceplates, and they weren't paying attention to the sky.
Do you mean, there are no stars in the photos? This has been dealt with so many times, and will seem so obvious when you know, that I'd be insulting your intelligence to explain the reasons why. I wouldn't want to do that, so please look for the reasons yourself.
