Why is it NASA claims we can't go past low earth orbit because of the van Allen radiation belts if we went to the moon?

someg say: You have it mixed up with Van Halen and the Cow that jumped over the Moon. Van Halen are nearly 80 now, and they sang "Go ahead and jump." The cow jumped and got barbecued.

spot a say: NASA seems to have made a mistake with this information. The author and editor at NASA were not born in 1969. It is not an "if" The Apollo crafts, 9 of them including Apollos 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 went rapidly through a low radiation part of the belt. The capsules had radiation protection for the crew. The dose received by the astronauts was less than what you get from a CT scan of Abdomen and Pelvis. You can look up the radiation data on this at the NASA site

Choose a bloody best answer. It's not hard. say: NASA has never said any such thing, and that article says no such thing. You can tell the difference between an electron and a spacecraft, can't you?
