From that, scientists have been able to figure out how old these signs are: about 2500 years. Since then they have shifted by more than 30 degrees due to the precession of the equinoxes.
As for astrology, that's a whole different subject.

In fact, of all the mystical practices, zodiac astrology is probably the most realistic.
The causes of human behavior are too complex to test or understand. We cant even pin down sociological, hormonal, environmental or genetic influences all that well. The underlying personality of a being (what is there when the slate is clean of experience), is the result of hormones, nutrition, genetics... and perhaps even the gravitational influences of distant bodies?!
We cannot test this one way or the other because its impossible for us, as is, to accurately predict human behavior, to separate astrological influences from environmental or upbringing/experience. And even if we could, we cannot raise a child in the controlled environment outside of the solar system to contrast with.

What do you mean "real"? The signs exist, one can buy all sorts of products showing them. If you mean do they have any significance vis a vis human life and relationships, the answer is only simple minds and scientific illiterates would entertain such a ridiculous notion

There is no scientific evidence to support astrology.
It is not the job of science to prove astrology is hokum - its astrology's job to prove it is right.
Astrology has had 2000+ years to prove its right and hasn't done that yet.

Science doesn't need to prove they are not real, because they are so fake, they disprove themselves. Common sense is all you need.

there were no lines in the sky connecting any stars.
I guess my eyesight isn't what it used to be, so scientifically speaking, there still might actually be lines in the sky that I just can't see.

The position of planets and stars have no impact on any human being being born other than by other humans who believe in astrology and attempt to convince others of their impact.
The doctor who delivers you has more gravitational influence on you than Jupiter.

Uh... you know constellations are arbitrary, right? They selected groups of stars which (bearing no relation to one another other than a similar direction from us) vaguely resemble things. Very vaguely.
