Why is ammonia used in window cleaning solutions and not sodium hydroxide.

Thanks.!-This is because sodium hydroxide is too strong of a base. Ammonia is strong enough to react with greases and oils on the glass, but wont etch the glass, which would let you be able to see through it.......
I am facing this question again and again and i can not get a suitable answer.! Hope your answers can clear my confusion.! Thanks.!
