I really enjoy looking at the stars so I would like to buy a telescope but I don't know anything about them. I was searching them up, and there were like the focal length, objective diameter, magnification power etc. Could someone please explain what they mean? And I don't want to buy the hardcore professional ones, just easy but good enough to see the stars at night :)

The objective lens is the large lens at the front of the telescope tube and the larger its diameter the more light it allows in and so it is better for night viewing. 50mm would probably be a minimum for casual star viewing and magnification of 50X would be a starting point. With such a telescope on a tripod to keep it stable and with good quality lenses you would have a good view of the moon seeing most craters and also seeing the rings of Saturn and Jupiter and its four bigger moons. Check around at stores and see what prices are like in your town but you should be able to find a basic one for $100 or so. Try it before you buy it , go out to the front of the store and look at some distant objects to get an idea of what it can do but remember that day viewing is very different from night viewing as in the day there is blurring from warm rising air.

i really enjoy looking at the stars too so my parents bought me a telescope for christmas last year. of course they're going to be expensive but i would suggest that you buy one of a good quality because mine isnt the best telescope and it makes it harder to see the stars. a more professional one would be easier even though it is more expensive, my telescope moves easy if you touch it and then you lose what you were trying to look at...
i have never been able to look at the stars but looking at the moon when it is a half moon is better than full moon because the sun makes shadows so you can see the craters easier!!!!!!
a better telescope also means you will use it more............
