Why do astronauts use radio instead of cell phone to Communicate in space

i read in a book astronauts communicate with radio but they can also use cell phone. the most detial awnser is the best awnser

First, I have been retired for over a decade, and am often asked by young people what was the most important thing to study in school / highschool / university. I studied physics and the related math and so on, but in retrospect, the language arts (literature and especially composition and speech classes were the most important to my success (and rewarding retirement).

Why? Because without them I would have been unable to understand the work done by others, and unable to convey the results of my work to others as well. If no one "bought" my proposals, I wouldn't have been able to keep a good job and get paid well for it.
