Complete coincidence. The largest ever solar flare can only take out power lines and other huge infrastructure. But that has only ever happened once. The only thing these solar flares may affect is things in orbit that are more exposed to radiation and even then it's only happend a hand full of times since satellites were sent into orbit.

Despite all the solar activity recently and all the dire predictions, I've heard of absolutely no electronic problems which could be attributed to solar activity. Hard drives die all the time: back up regularly!
-
just a coincidence; the solar flares affected satellites and open communications systems but assuming you didn't fly your computers in an airplane over the north pole or didn't put them in space, they would not have been affected
-
Only if you sent his laptop into orbit. Even then, geomagnetic activity has been fairly low for the last 24 hours.

weird coincidence.
