Universe has a larger purpose

By examining the development of the universe and life within it, can we determine whether or not the universe exhibits a larger purpose?

In a couple of centuries may sound like a mean response but put in more civil terms, it's a reasonable point. The problem is that it ignores the fact that we all ready know a lot. A lot can be extrapolated from new thinking such as string theory and Brane theory. In fact, many scientist now believe that there is something bigger then the observable universe and the term multiverse is appearing in a lot of the literature regarding astronomy and cosmology. It is not at all unreasonable to suppose that the multiverse has existed for an infinite amount of time. In an infinite amount of time, anything could be, anything!

The universe is the biggest thing there is that we know of. It is hard to image a purpose larger than the universe.

But if by any chance you are bringing "god" into this, maybe you can answer this: "Who" or "what" created god?

Basically, there is absolutely no evidence that the universe has a "purpose" of any kind. These are not the sort of questions that scientists ask.

Purpose suggests thinking in advance. The universe doesn't think.

Purpose is a religious concern. In science, things may have functions, but they don't have purposes.
